Foreclosure Fighter

Foreclosure Fighter

As the foreclosure crisis has hit Southern Nevada hard, Congress and the Obama Administration have taken a number of steps to create programs aimed at helping people stay in their homes. Many of these programs provide incentives to mortgage lenders to work with homeowners to modify or refinance their loans in an effort to avoid foreclosure. I have heard from a number of my constituents that they have had a difficult time communicating with their lenders, even if it’s just to find out if they qualify for the programs.

In order for these programs to be successful, mortgage lenders must make a concerted effort to comply with the programs and work with homeowners. If you have had difficulty reaching your lender and believe you qualify for help, please let me know. Lenders must participate in these plans in order for them to be successful and so we can solve the housing crisis, which is a critical element in our national recovery from this recession.

By sharing your personal story, I can better work on behalf of Nevadans so that homeowners at risk of foreclosure get the help they need to stay in their home. I believe that it is important that lenders communicate with their clients, and I will do what I can to encourage them to do so. Your story can shine a light on lenders that have not been responsive to their customers in hopes that they will be encouraged to take action.

Sincerely,
Congresswoman Dina Titus
