KVVU Channel 5: Titus Helps Police Station Go Green

North Community Police Station applying for certification

Monday, July 6, 2009

A Henderson police station is applying to go green, and state Rep. Dina Titus wants to help.

Titus was joined by Henderson Mayor Andy Hafen when she visited the North Community Police Station in Henderson. It's applying for LEED gold level certification for energy efficiency.

If certified, Henderson will get $2.2 million, and some of that will go into the project.

“Not only is it good for the planet, it's good for Henderson to get those federal dollars, and it's good for Nevada because it creates jobs. We need jobs for people to install these kind of facilities, develop them, work on them – so, I think it's win-win-win," Titus said.
