Titus: Nevada to Receive an Additional $51 Million in Unemployment Funding

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s Third District announced today that more than $51 million in unemployment insurance funds have been released for Nevada through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.   The money, approved for release by the Department of Labor, can be used for basic unemployment benefits or for administrative costs of the program.

“This is a difficult time for the record number of Nevadans currently out of work.  The additional $51 million in unemployment funds through the recovery package will help Nevadans with critical assistance while we redouble our efforts to create jobs and get people back to work,” Congresswoman Titus said.  “The economic crisis this Congress inherited has taken a great toll on Nevada, but we are working every day to turn our economy around.”

Today’s announcement of $51,291,608 for Nevada is in addition to $25 million that was released earlier this month for unemployment insurance.
