Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s Third District released the following statement today on the eighth anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks.
“On September 11th, 2001, our nation and our way of life were attacked and changed forever. Since that day, our nation has come together to mourn the 3,000 lives lost in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania. The effects of this day were felt around the United States and around the world.
“Throughout our nation we saw all of the United States unite as one to mourn. In the aftermath, Americans joined together, standing up to volunteer in service to their communities and country in an effort not only to rebuild the physical damage from the attacks, but to reinvigorate the American spirit. On the eighth anniversary of these attacks, we renew that spirit of service once again by recognizing September 11 as the National Day of Service and Remembrance. I encourage all Americans to take time out of their day for service to their community.
“We should also take this day to honor the brave men and women around the world who are fighting to protect our freedom and way of life. Across the globe, the men and women of our Armed Services are fighting to protect our nation and bring justice to the extremists who attacked the United States eight years ago and those who still wish to do us harm. Today, we show our resolve to defend the United States and the values we stand for and cherish.”
