Washington, D.C. - Today Congresswoman Dina Titus and Congressman Steven Horsford introduced a resolution formally recognizing National Travel and Tourism Week and honoring the valuable contributions of travel and tourism to Nevada and the United States.

"Travel and tourism make up the life-blood of our economy in Southern Nevada," Congresswoman Titus said. "Last year, nearly 40 million visitors came to Las Vegas, supporting job growth in the tourism industry and generating over $45 billion in economic activity. As a member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, I have made it a priority to increase efficiency and reliability of travel and encourage greater tourism to Southern Nevada. This resolution recognizes these important industries and the vital role they play in our economy."

“National Travel and Tourism Week serves as a reminder of how critical this industry is for Nevada," Congressman Horsford said. "Tourism generates $45 billion a year for Las Vegas and supports over 350,000 thousand jobs for our state; tourists spend money at our hotels and small businesses. Travel and tourism are the backbone of our economy and as our recovery moves forward we will continue to support and strengthen one of our most vibrant industries.”
