Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District released the following statement today on Genting Group's announcement that the company will build a new resort, Resorts World Las Vegas, on the 87-acre Strip site of the unfinished Echelon. The new project will incorporate many of the Echelon's unfinished buildings and hotel towers, as well as its parking structure in an effort to expedite construction time. The Resorts World Las Vegas is the Strip's first large scale development since the recession, and is set to open in 2016.

“Las Vegas' premier gaming and entertainment attract tens of millions of visitors every year, making it one of the top tourist destinations in the world. This project has immense potential for the city and its tourism industry. From attracting new foreign investments to creating good-paying jobs during the construction and operation of the resort, the Resorts World Las Vegas will help revitalize the north end of the Las Vegas Strip and usher in economic benefits throughout the First District. I hope Genting Group will follow the Strip’s tradition of corporate social responsibility and work with our community to create a positive impact across Southern Nevada.”
