Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District was appointed to serve on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure for the 113th Congress. She will serve on four subcommittees; including the Subcommittee on Highways and Transit; Aviation; Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials; as well as Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management.

“I came to Washington to work hard for the people of the First District. In Southern Nevada, effective and efficient transportation is essential to our tourism industry, and serves a vital role in the economic well-being of our state and our country,” Titus said. “As a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I will make it a priority to improve aging infrastructure, and enhance the safety and reliability of travel to Las Vegas and across the United States.

“In doing so; I look forward to working with the management team of McCarran Airport which is in District 1, the Regional Transportation Commission, and the Las Vegas Regional Economic Development Council as it pursues the construction of the Las Vegas-Phoenix interstate link.”

In announcing Titus’ appointment, Ranking Member Rahall said, “Congresswoman Titus represents one of the busiest cities in the country and knows how important a 21st Century transportation network is to economic growth in Southern Nevada and keeping visitors coming back to the region. I look forward to her contributions on behalf of her constituents to the Committee.”
