Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District released the following statement today after the President announced his immigration reform proposal at Del Sol High School in Las Vegas:

“Fixing our broken immigration system remains one of our most urgent challenges, one that requires bipartisan, comprehensive reform. I agree that we must address this need through broad reform that secures our borders, makes our existing laws more efficient and timely, and provides a fair path to citizenship for the millions of immigrants already living in the United States. This is especially true for the young, undocumented immigrants brought here as children who are eager to participate in the American Dream.

“I applaud the President for taking a strong stand on immigration reform today, and commend the bipartisan group of Senators who yesterday unveiled a similar comprehensive immigration reform proposal. I look forward to reviewing both of these proposals in legislative form as soon as possible. I am encouraged by this momentum and am hopeful that Republican leaders will join with Democrats in the House and heed the call to fix our immigration system now.”
