Dear Commissioner Winkowski,
As you know, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2014 included funding for 2,000 additional Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers. I respectfully request that you immediately assign seven of these additional officers to the Las Vegas McCarran International Airport (LAS). Over the past few years LAS has seen a 40% increase in international arrivals, and this figure is projected to grow in the near future. The addition of seven officers would allow CBP at LAS to keep up with growing international traffic by providing more flexibility to the Port Director to schedule personnel around international arrivals. Our local community has made significant investments to attract foreign visitors to Las Vegas and it is imperative that we are ready to expeditiously welcome these visitors upon their arrival.
I appreciate your attention to this issue.
Sincerely,
Dina Titus
Member of Congress
