Las Vegas, NV - Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District released the following statement in recognition of Memorial Day, observed on Monday, May 27:

“Today we join in solidarity with millions of Americans as one nation to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Because of the brave efforts of so many servicemen and women throughout our nation’s history, our country is a safer place.

“As we commemorate the memory of those who gave their lives to defend our democratic principles, we also honor those who have answered the call to duty and bravely fought for our country overseas. This Memorial Day, we express our deepest appreciation to our veterans and renew our promise to support our troops in the field and in their transition back to civilian life.

“On this day of remembrance, we also keep in our hearts and prayers those who are currently answering the call to serve in locations around the world.  We will continue to pray for each son, daughter, mother, father, brother, and sister until they return home safely to their families.

“I join with all Nevadans and Americans in thanking our troops, their families, and our veterans for their service and for the sacrifices they have made to defend our country and the principles that we hold dear.”
