Washington, D.C. –Today Rep. Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District released the following statement on President Trump’s latest immigration proposal that includes a $25 billion taxpayer subsidy for a border wall, eliminates the visa lottery, and limits who else can enter the nation.
“On the campaign trail, President Trump crusaded that Mexico would pay for a border wall. Now he wants to use DREAMers as a bargaining chip and taxpayer dollars to build a symbol of xenophobia and hate. The proposal, which the President deems a ‘compromise,’ also scraps the visa lottery program and keeps citizens from sponsoring extended family members. What this plan compromises is our nation’s reputation as a melting pot and refuge for those who are seeking a better life.”
