Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District released the following statement today in opposition to H.R. 5230, Making Supplemental Appropriations for FY 2014, and H.R. 5232:

“Tonight’s bills, cobbled together at the 11th hour, are not substantive solutions to the humanitarian crisis at the border.  Not only do these bills fail to address the needs of vulnerable children, they threaten the deportation of DREAMers. The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program has provided over ten thousand Nevada DREAMers the opportunity to pursue their American Dream, in the only country they have ever known, without fear of deportation,” said Titus. “For more than a year, House Republicans have blocked any action on immigration reform. Now, catering to the radical right, they show their true colors by telling DREAMers’ they are not welcome in their own home."
