Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District announced that the U.S. Department of Labor’s Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) will award $230,000 to the United States Veterans Initiative (U.S. Vets) site in Las Vegas. This money will go toward the Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program. Veterans account for 12 percent of the homeless adult population, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development estimates that there are over 57,000 veterans without homes on any given day.

“Programs like U.S. Vets provide valuable assistance to the veterans in Southern Nevada,” said Congresswoman Titus. “Although the rate of homelessness among veterans has fallen, there are still far too many of our heroes on the streets and out of work. Now more than ever, as we welcome our soldiers home after over a decade of war, we must ensure that resources are available at home to provide for them. These men and women fought for us; we cannot allow them to suffer when they return. I am pleased to announce this grant which will provide critical funds to assist Las Vegas’ US Veterans Initiative efforts in our community.”
