Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada's First District today sent a letter to Mr. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors, to encourage him to bring new lithium ion battery factory to Nevada. Below is her letter:

Dear Mr. Musk,
I write today to encourage you to bring your announced “giga factory” for lithium ion batteries to the great State of Nevada. In addition to being the only state in the Union with an active lithium mine, Nevada is home to a friendly business environment, skilled labor force, and wide swaths of land that can accommodate the large-scale development that is being proposed.
Nevada’s economy continues to diversify, becoming a hub for innovation in a variety of technology fields. Nevada was recently designated by the Federal Aviation Administration as a test-site for the commercial integration of unmanned aerial vehicles. Nevada was the first state to enact laws for the licensing of autonomous vehicles, a critical technology that has the potential to significantly improve the safety of our roadways. Our environment is among the best in the nation for solar and geothermal development as evidenced by the major projects coming online in recent years and the expansion of your SolarCity offices in Las Vegas.
Nevada stands ready to welcome Tesla to the Silver State. If you should have any questions about what our state has to offer, please feel free to reach out. I thank you for considering Nevada and look forward working with your company to see this exciting project come to fruition.
Sincerely,
Dina Titus
Member of Congress
