Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District released the following statement on bipartisan legislation to extend unemployment insurance (UI) benefits to the long-term unemployed, which was introduced today in the House by Representatives Frank LoBiondo (NJ-02) and Dan Kildee (MI-05). This legislation is a companion to the bipartisan bill introduced in the Senate by U.S. Senators Jack Reed (RI) and Dean Heller (NV) earlier this week. Titus is an original cosponsor of the House bill.

“This bipartisan legislation restores a critical lifeline to the nearly forty thousand Nevadans struggling to keep their families afloat as they look for a new job. Reinstating these vital benefits will not only help the individuals and their families who receive them, but also provide a boost to our economy.
