Las Vegas, NV - Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District released the following statement in response to House Republicans’ immigration reform principles released today:

“While I am glad that House Republicans have begun to acknowledge the importance of addressing our broken immigration system, I believe the principles they released today fall far short of the comprehensive immigration reform that our country needs.

“I am proud to cosponsor two comprehensive immigration reform bills in the House, H.R. 15 and H.R. 3163.  Both of these bills would allow the 11 million undocumented immigrants living in our country to come out of the shadows and have a chance to pursue the American Dream. They would also promote innovation and entrepreneurship; protect our workers; and secure our borders. We should vote on these proposals without any further delay.

“Comprehensive immigration reform is an economic and moral necessity. This proposal is a first step, but I hope that my Republican colleagues will go further and work with Democrats to support bipartisan legislation.”
