Congresswoman Dina Titus released the following statement today on the House Republican Budget Resolution for Fiscal Year 2015. April 1, 2014 Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District released the following statement today on the House Republican Budget Resolution for Fiscal Year 2015: “Today Republicans in Congress introduced a budget proposal that once again ignores our nation’s needs and stands in stark contrast to Americans’ priorities. Instead of laying out a plan to strengthen and grow the middle class, the Republican budget shrinks investments in infrastructure and education, cuts funding to research and development, eliminates the safety net for our most vulnerable, and breaks our promise to seniors by once again trying to end the Medicare guarantee. These cuts undermine our long-term economic stability and short change critical investments in our future. “Based on inconsistent assumptions, budget gimmicks, and phantom revenue, this budget simply does not add up to sound fiscal policy. It should have been released on Groundhog Day, but April Fools is fitting as well.” |
