Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District released the following statement today after the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission announced it will advance the licensing process for the proposed nuclear waste project at Yucca Mountain:
“While the NRC's decision to move forward with the licensing process is not surprising, it is disappointing to see more good money thrown after bad politics. Yucca Mountain was, is, and will continue to be an unworkable boondoggle.  As Congress continues to debate our budgetary priorities through the Budget Conference, I will be writing Chairman Ryan and Chairwoman Murray to urge them to stop wasting valuable tax payer dollars on this unworkable solution to nuclear waste management.”
