Ahead of the busy travel season, today Representative Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District introduced the Travel and Tourism for All Act. The legislation, H.R. 5412, requires the National Council on Disability to make recommendations to Congress intended to ease travel burdens across the United States for individuals with disabilities.

Under the legislation, the National Council on Disability will conduct a review and submit a report to Congress on the implementation of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the 2010 Department of Justice ADA Standards for Acceptable Design within the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries. The bill is supported by major disability rights organizations across the country and the comprehensive review it requires would be the first of its kind.

“People with disabilities should be fully empowered to travel and explore the many exciting tourist destinations across this country, especially Las Vegas,” said Congresswoman Titus (NV-1). “This bill will help make easier travel for all a reality. Reducing barriers to travel for people with disabilities isn’t just the right thing to do – it will also help boost local economies like ours that rely on tourism.”
