Las Vegas – Today Rep. Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District announced that the Department of Health and Human Services will award a $812,500 grant to Silver State Health Services, a local nonprofit community care provider.

The Access Point Grant Award will help an estimated 4,392 patients in Southern Nevada and is part of an effort to improve the health of underserved communities and vulnerable populations. The grant will provide Silver State Health Services and other health care centers across the country with more resources for comprehensive care and access to pharmacies, counseling, and oral health professionals.

“One out of 13 people in the U.S relies on community care centers for quality health care services,” Rep. Titus said. “These funds will help to ensure that everyone in our community, including the most vulnerable, is able to access care when and where they need it.”

Nearly 1,400 health centers operating in over 9,800 sites provide care to more than 24 million people across the nation, in every U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Pacific Basin, according to HHS. Today, health centers employ nearly 190,000 people.
