Today Representative Dina Titus released the following statement after the U.S. Senate voted to acquit President Trump on both articles of impeachment. February 5, 2020 Today Representative Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District released the following statement after the U.S. Senate voted to acquit President Trump on both articles of impeachment: “Donald Trump is the first President in history to face a bipartisan vote from the U.S. Senate to convict and remove him from office,” said Congresswoman Titus (NV-1). “I especially commend Senators Jones, Manchin, and Romney for displaying the courage to put politics aside and do what is right for our democracy. “Yet, almost every Republican Senator voted against a fair trial. They are obviously scared of the truth. History will judge them poorly for their cowardice. “President Trump tried to cheat in the 2020 elections and then he worked with Republican Senators to cover it up. I am proud of the work we did in the House – led by Chairman Schiff – to hold President Trump accountable for his grotesque abuse of power.” |
