Today Representative Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District received notification from the Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs that the Office of the Inspector General has initiated an investigation into the VA’s use of painful and outdated dog experiments. Congresswoman Titus (NV-1) requested the investigation in a letter she sent to the Inspector General in December 2018. Both the initial letter and the Inspector General’s response are attached. 

“I’m glad that the Inspector General has agreed to take a close look at the use of dog testing at the VA,” said Congresswoman Titus (NV-1). “The American people deserve answers about this harmful and unnecessary practice. I am hopeful that this investigation will shine a light on the dubious explanations that VA leadership has provided for how these cruel experiments were allowed to move forward in possible violation of federal law.”

Rep. Titus was joined on the December 2018 letter by former-Congressman Brat (VA-7), and service veterans Congressman Lieu (CA-33), Congressman Buchanan (FL-16), and Congressman Mast (FL-18).
