Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District issued the following statement on President Obama’s State of the Union Address:

“Tonight the President went all in for the middle-class. He spoke out against Republican inaction that has allowed wages to remain stagnant and income inequality to grow, and put forward a plan to level the playing field to help all hardworking Americans get ahead.

“I agree with the President that if we don't invest in our future, we won't have much future to invest in - that means commitment to education, infrastructure, and comprehensive immigration reform.

“We've got to stop asking the modern day robber barons, ‘How much is enough?’ while telling hungry children, working women, and minimum wage earners, ‘it's not much, but it's enough.’ It's time to get our priorities straight - government is not intended to make a handful of people extremely rich; it's there to build a great nation where all people have an equal chance to prosper.

“Let's tonight remember the words of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, ‘The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.’”
