Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District released the following statement on today’s announcement that Nevada joined more than two dozen states in a lawsuit to undermine President Obama’s executive actions on immigration.

“This is one more example of the Republican war on immigrants. The U.S. Senate passed bi-partisan comprehensive immigration reform more than a year and a half ago. House Republicans had 18 months to bring bi-partisan options to the floor for a vote and they refused. Instead they voted to repeal both DACA and DAPA and keep some 40,000 eligible undocumented immigrants living in Southern Nevada from coming out of the shadows and applying for deportation relief.

“In the absence of legislation, President Obama rightly used his authority to protect families, strengthen our community, and boost the economy,” continued Titus. “Every U.S. president since Eisenhower has used executive powers to protect groups of immigrants living in our country. This lawsuit is just another attempt to undermine efforts to fix our broken immigration system; it creates an atmosphere of uncertainty and intimidates eligible immigrants from applying for deportation relief.”
