Congresswoman Titus Elected to Key Foreign Affairs, Homeland Security Subcommittees

Today Representative Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District was elected to serve on subcommittees under the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on Homeland Security that are vital to Nevada’s residents and to the nation.

Today Representative Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District was elected to serve on subcommittees under the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on Homeland Security that are vital to Nevada’s residents and to the nation. 

Under the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Congresswoman Titus will serve on the Subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific, and Nonproliferation and on the Subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia, Energy, and the Environment. In addition to its regional jurisdiction, the Subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific, and Nonproliferation has oversight over nuclear weapons, biological weapons, chemical weapons, and other weapons of mass destruction. In addition to its regional jurisdiction, the Subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia, Energy, and the Environment has oversight of energy security, international efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, development of renewable energy technologies, and wildlife protection. 

Under the Committee on Homeland Security, Congresswoman Titus will serve on the Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security and the Subcommittee on Oversight, Management, and Accountability. The Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security has sole jurisdiction over all Transpiration Security Administration (TSA) security matters, including the security of passengers and cargo within the U.S. aviation system and TSA’s work to secure railroads, trucks, and pipelines. The Subcommittee on Oversight, Management, and Accountability, rigorously monitors the management of the Department of Homeland Security. 

Congresswoman Titus, a senior member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, previously announced that she will serve as Chair of the Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management.
