Congresswoman Dina Titus was appointed to serve on the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs and as the ranking member of the Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs. January 30, 2013 Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District was appointed to serve on the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. She will serve as the ranking member of the Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs (DAMA), and also as a member on the Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity. “Those who bravely defend our country deserve the support of their government as they transition back to civilian life,” Congresswoman Titus said. “Too many of our servicemen and women return home and struggle to find housing, employment, and needed healthcare programs. As a member of the Committee on Veterans' Affairs, I will make it a priority to ensure that our veterans have access to the resources and services they have earned through their dedicated service to our nation.” During her term in the 111th Congress, Congresswoman Titus built a strong record of support for our nation’s veterans. This included efforts to enhance health services for women veterans, expand mental health resources for returning service members, and increase support for wounded veterans and their families. Titus said her previous work on issues affecting people with disabilities and experience with veterans’ affairs will “serve me well as I work to help our veterans who are struggling with mental and physical problems sustained in the field.” |
