 Today Representative Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District announced that the Bureau of Land Management has agreed to begin the process for disbursing grants funded by the sale of Nevada’s public lands under the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act (SNPLMA):

“I’m pleased to announce that the Bureau of Land Management has committed to open new grants to improve Southern Nevada’s recreational parks, conservation efforts, and wildlife protection,” said Congresswoman Titus (NV-1). “The over $400 million in this fund will help stimulate Nevada’s recreation economy during this difficult time. I will continue to fight for the disbursement of SNPLMA funds to help Nevada’s residents and visitors who enjoy hiking, swimming, and playing in our parks and open spaces.”

Last week, Congresswoman Titus joined with local groups to urge the Interior Department, which oversees the Bureau of Land Management, to begin the process for disbursing SNPLMA grants. The Bureau of Land Management committed to doing so in a phone call with Congresswoman Titus.

Since 1998, the Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act has generated $3.6 billion to fund projects in Clark County and across Nevada. The new funding opportunity will be the 18^th round of grants from the landmark law.
