With premiums skyrocketing, drug prices increasing, and the Supreme Court one vote away from allowing health insurance companies to once again discriminate based on pre-existing conditions, House Republicans now bring forward a bill that will do nothing to bring down health care costs for Nevadans and will add another $20 billion to the deficit by giving the medical device industry a second tax cut in seven months. July 24, 2018 Today Representative Dina Titus, of Nevada’s First Congressional District released the following statement on her vote on H.R. 184: “I originally cosponsored H.R. 184 as part of a package of bipartisan ideas to move forward on health care reform and address issues with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA),” said Congresswoman Titus. “Given the changes that have occurred in the last 16 months, however, I cannot in good conscience support this legislation now. I advocated for this bill as part of a good-faith effort to try and move forward on finding areas of compromise within our health care system. Today that effort is a folly given the extreme, partisan, and dangerous policies Republicans are pursuing to destabilize our health care system and take away coverage from those who need it most.” |
