Today Representative Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District celebrated the passage of several of her key priorities that were included in a package of House funding bills.
The spending package, H.R. 7608, is the first set of FYI 2021 appropriations bills that the House has considered this year and it includes four spending bills: State-Foreign Operations, Agriculture-Rural Development-FDA, Interior-Environment, and Military Construction-Veterans Affairs.
“Today the House passed legislation to promote American values abroad and care for our veterans at home,” said Congresswoman Titus (NV-1). “This bill will also prohibit the VA from conducting harmful experiments on dogs and protect wild horses.
“Importantly, this legislation sends a clear message of condemnation to the Turkish government in response to its irresponsible decision to turn the Hagia Sophia into a mosque. Meanwhile, the bill includes substantial funding to increase disability rights programming and personnel at the State Department.”

Language authored by Congresswoman Titus to prevent painful dog testing at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
Language authored by Congresswoman Titus to require commercial animal dealers, exhibitors, and research facilities to have contingency plans in place to safely evacuate and care for animals in an emergency or disaster situation.
Maintains language authored by Congresswoman Titus to protect healthy wild horses and burros under the care of the U.S. Forest Service from being slaughtered
Language co-authored by Congresswoman Titus to provide $11 million to invest in a humane fertility strategy for wild horses and burros under the care of the Bureau of Land Management
Language authored by Congresswoman Titus to condemn the Turkish government for converting the Hagia Sophia into a mosque
The Global HER Act, which is co-sponsored by Congresswoman Titus. The bill would permanently repeal the Global Gag Rule – a policy that prevents foreign organizations receiving U.S. assistance from providing information or services related to legal abortion
Language requested by Congresswoman Titus as Co-Chair of the Travel and Tourism Caucus to authorize the U.S. to rejoin and contribute to the United Nations World Tourism Organization.
