Las Vegas, NV – Today Representative Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has granted $800,000 to the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe under the Indian Community Development Block Grant Program for Phase I of a wellness center to be constructed on the tribe’s downtown reservation.

The grant will be used, in part, to build a gymnasium to encourage exercise and healthy lifestyles. The site will also serve as a location for social and cultural events, including weddings and wakes.

In April 2019, Congresswoman Titus wrote the Rep. Titus HRSA Tribal Grant Support Letter.pdf letter highlighting the need for such funding.

“This grant is an important investment in the health and wellness of the Las Vegas Paiute tribe and of Native Americans throughout Southern Nevada,” said Congresswoman Titus (NV-1). “I will continue to help our local tribes get the resources they deserve.”
