Congresswoman Dina Titus announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will provide nearly $2 million to the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority to offer permanent supportive housing to homeless Veterans, many of whom are living with chronic disabling conditions. June 3, 2013 Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will provide nearly $2 million to the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority to offer permanent supportive housing to homeless Veterans, many of whom are living with chronic disabling conditions. The supportive housing assistance announced today is provided through the HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) Program which combines rental assistance from HUD with case management and clinical services provided by VA. “Nevada’s veterans have made a tremendous sacrifice in service to our nation, yet too many of them do not have a roof over their head,” Congresswoman Titus said. “With veterans facing higher unemployment than the rest of the population, programs like this are critical to help get our veterans off the streets in to a place they can call home.” |
