Las Vegas, NV - Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District released the following statement in response to the Department of Justice filing of an emergency stay from the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals to lift the Texas-based U.S. District Court’s order blocking the President’s executive actions on immigration. If granted, the stay will allow the federal government to move forward and begin accepting applications for expanded DACA and DAPA.

“I applaud the Department of Justice for taking action to correct the district court’s flawed decision and allow the implementation of key protections for certain undocumented men, women, and children, including some 20,000 living in Southern Nevada.

“While the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals considers the Department of Justice request for a stay and as the appeals process moves forward, I remind those seeking relief under expanded DACA and DAPA to be prepared to file applications once the ruling is final. Have your documents ready to go. We’ve fought too hard and too long to ensure that millions of people can come out of the shadows and start living the American Dream to stop now.”
