Titus Statement on Trump’s Revised Travel Ban

March 6, 2017

Today Rep. Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District issued the following statement on President Trump’s new Executive Order to ban travelers from six majority-Muslim nations who did not obtain a visa before January 27 from entering the United States for 90 days.

“After issuing what many courts have ruled as an unlawful ban in January, the president is doubling down on xenophobic and harmful policies. His latest effort is another international embarrassment for our nation and a clear attempt to discriminate against refugees who already undergo multi-agency vetting before they arrive. The president’s actions have already damaged our reputation as a champion of humanitarian causes and harmed Nevada’s economy. Las Vegas has seen a 23 percent decline in travel searches since the initial ban took effect. This new executive order will only exacerbate the adverse impact on our economy and further tarnish our standing as a good world citizen.”
