Today Rep. Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District released the following statement on the GOP’s new health care legislation that will jeopardize millions of Americans.

"The Republicans' health care proposal is a disaster for the many Nevadans who benefit from the Affordable Care Act. After seven years of rhetoric and over sixty repeal votes, the best the Republicans have to offer is a tax cut for the wealthiest one percent, less coverage and higher costs for working families, and greater profits for insurance companies."

Background

• Nevada’s uninsured rate dropped from 23% to 12% under the ACA – one of the largest declines in the country. The most significant decrease was in child uninsured rates, which dropped from 16% in 2012 to 8% in 2015.
• This proposal is a tax cut for the wealthiest of Americans that will save those in the top income brackets $300 billion over the next decade.
• More than 400,000 Nevadans have coverage thanks to Medicaid expansion.
• Under the Republican plan, most of those will lose their coverage.
