I applaud the Sunrise Children Foundation’s continued commitment to ensuring the health and wellness of the most vulnerable in our community. May 11, 2018 Las Vegas, NV – Today Rep. Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will award the Sunrise Children’s Foundation $1,944,510 for the Early Head Start program. “With intensive and comprehensive services, childhood development programs like Early Head Start offer valuable support for families in low-income or underserved neighborhoods throughout Southern Nevada. I applaud the Sunrise Children Foundation’s continued commitment to ensuring the health and wellness of the most vulnerable in our community.” Thirty-seven percent of children under age 3 in Nevada live in poor or low-income families. The funds awarded to the Foundation will go to serve 270 infants and toddlers from families like these in at-risk communities across Southern Nevada. The Foundation’s services include boosting reading and literacy skills, fostering nutrition and health, and supporting parents’ engagement in their children’s development. |
