Trump's budget aims to dismantle the social safety net, arts funding, environmental protections, and more. May 23, 2017 Today, Rep. Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District issued the following statement on the Trump Administration’s Fiscal Year 2018 Budget Request to Congress. “The proposal released by the Trump Administration today is a budget of broken promises that is driven by the interests of far-right, Tea Party ideologues. The President told the nation during his campaign that he would fix our crumbling infrastructure, improve our standing around the world, advance our healthcare system, and strengthen our economy and security. His budget will do the opposite, gutting programs for research, the social safety net, the arts, environmental protections, infrastructure spending, and diplomatic efforts. Instead of creating jobs and advancing our interests, Trump’s draconian budget will isolate our nation from opportunities at home and abroad.” BACKGROUND The Trump budget will cut billions from vital programs in FY18 and trillions over the next 10 years.
