Today the United States Senate passed S. 815, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. The historic legislation outlaws workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity. Congresswoman Dina Titus is an original cosponsor of the legislation in the House of Representatives.

“Americans should not feel threatened at their place of employment simply because of who they love or their sexual identity,” said Congresswoman Dina Titus. “The fact that more than 76,000,000 American workers could be fired from their jobs simply for being gay is un-American. I call on Speaker Boehner and House Republicans to drop their objections and bring ENDA to the floor for immediate consideration. This legislation deserves an up and down vote, anything less is playing politics with the lives of millions of Americans who want nothing more than a fair shot at the American dream.”

The Employment Non-Discrimination Act is bipartisan legislation and enjoys the support of civil rights groups, some of America’s largest employers, labor unions, religious organizations, and various other groups.
