Congresswoman Dina Titus released the following statement today in response to the Nevada Nuclear Waste Task Force’s Yucca Mountain press conference: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Titus Statement on Yucca Mountain Press ConferenceCongresswoman Dina Titus released the following statement today in response to the Nevada Nuclear Waste Task Force’s Yucca Mountain press conference: “Today’s press conference highlights one of the many flaws with the Yucca Mountain plan – transportation. Since Nevada doesn’t produce any nuclear waste, all of this dangerous nuclear material would have to be shipped here, travelling on roads, boats, and trains throughout the United States. Seventy other groups are holding similar events all around the country today to highlight this danger. We must keep up the fight, and keep nuclear waste out of Nevada. In Washington, I have introduced the Nuclear Waste Informed Consent act. This legislation would require that states and communities be involved in the siting process for any nuclear depository. It’s time for Congress to pass this bill.” ### |
