Las Vegas—Today Rep. Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District issued a statement to commemorate the lives lost on September 11, 2001.
“Tomorrow we pause to mourn the 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania. The attacks left deep wounds in our hearts and communities, devastating family members, friends, neighbors, and fellow citizens of those who went down and testing our resolve as a country. But out of the ashes and rubble, Americans rallied and heroes emerged. First responders, airline passengers, soldiers, and ordinary citizens answered the call to action. Their bravery unified and inspired our nation at its darkest hour, comforting those who grieved, reassuring those who watched in disbelief, and mobilizing our citizens to help secure, rebuild, and defend our country.
“The events of 9/11 emboldened men and women to make great sacrifices and risk their own lives for the greater good. Their bravery and selflessness serve as a reminder of both the heroic and abhorrent acts that our nation witnessed on that day.
“Every September 11th, we honor the legacy of those who had their lives taken and changed by those heinous attacks with the National Day of Service and Remembrance. Let us use this time to rekindle the spirit of unity, allegiance, and duty that sprang from the attacks by giving back. There is no better way to pay homage to all who have lost and sacrificed in the aftermath of the attacks than to pay it forward.”
