September 26, 2017

Today Rep. Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District announced a $1.79 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education to the Clark County School District for the Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) which will promote socioeconomic diversity and academic opportunity in Southern Nevada.

The funds will help to reduce, eliminate, and prevent minority group isolation in local schools by increasing transportation options and providing more resources for academic achievement, according to the Department of Education.

“Sixty-three years after Brown v. Board we are still fighting to integrate and diversify our public schools. Research shows that diverse academic environments play a crucial role in student success and future prosperity. These funds will help ensure that a family’s income and heritage do not limit academic opportunity for our children by providing resources for students of all backgrounds to attend our excellent magnet schools and fulfill their dreams.”
