Congresswoman Dina Titus announced that the Nevada Community College Consortium has been awarded $9,921,831 from the Department of Labor’s Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) initiative. The TAACCCT grant program is designed to provide community colleges and other institutions of higher education funds to expand job training programs in partnership with local employers. September 29, 2014 Las Vegas, NV- Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District announced that the Nevada Community College Consortium has been awarded $9,921,831 from the Department of Labor’s Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) initiative. The TAACCCT grant program is designed to provide community colleges and other institutions of higher education funds to expand job training programs in partnership with local employers. Today’s grant award will benefit four colleges in Nevada, including the College of Southern Nevada. "These funds will provide opportunities for local students to develop the skills and training they need for high-skilled careers," said Titus. "By investing in job-driven training programs, we are not only strengthening our community college system, we are building a skilled workforce that is essential for our country's innovation and competitiveness in the global economy." |
