Nevadans on Capitol Hill are expressing diverse reactions to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report.

U.S. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto wants to know what President Donald Trump intends to do about Russian interference in American elections, but was silent on the report’s findings on Trump’s behavior.

In a statement released by her office, Cortez Masto addressed only the issue of Russian interference, but not the revelations that Trump asked staff to lie on his behalf.

“Americans deserve full transparency, and today’s release of the redacted Mueller report by Attorney General Barr is the starting point to understand the Special Counsel’s work. This investigation has always been central to learning how a foreign power sought to interfere in our elections. This report and Attorney General Barr’s statements make it clear that there is concrete evidence the Russians under Putin’s leadership interfered in our elections.  What is the President going to do about it? I look forward to reviewing the report and understanding how best I can work as a member of the Senate Rules Committee to protect our elections.”

Sen. Jacky Rosen also ignored the president’s actions.

“I am glad the Justice Department finally released at least some version of Special Counsel Mueller’s report to the public,” Rosen said in a statement. “The report makes clear that the Russian government interfered in our elections, and it is the responsibility of Congress and the President to ensure our elections are not threatened again. Now, all Members of Congress must be able to read and review the full, unredacted report, and I expect that Attorney General Barr will make it available as soon as possible.”

Rep. Dina Titus released a more aggressive response to the report.

“The redacted version of the Mueller report details the sweeping Russian effort to help Donald Trump win the presidency and the repeated attempts of Donald Trump and his allies to minimize Vladimir Putin’s attack on our democracy,” Titus said in a statement. “It recounts the many outright lies the President and his aides have told the American people and the press.”

“Most notably, this redacted report contains disturbing evidence that President Trump engaged in obstruction of justice. Since the Special Counsel stated he could not exonerate the President, Congress must hold the President fully accountable for his actions. In order for Congress to carry out its constitutional obligations, Special Counsel Mueller must testify before Congress.

“All Americans should be alarmed by the extent to which President Trump has shown a disregard for the rule of law and a disdain for the basic principles of our democracy,” Titus said.

Congressman Steven Horsford wants to hear directly from Special Investigator Robert Mueller.

Rep. Susie Lee issued a statement which also made no mention of the report’s blistering accounts of Trump’s conduct.

“Now more than ever, it’s important that Congress receives the full, unredacted Special Counsel report, as members of both parties have requested,” Lee said.

Congressman Mark Amodei was visiting constituents and unavailable for comment at the moment, according to his spokesman.
