LAS VEGAS (KSNV News3LV) — A lecture hall at the College of Southern Nevada was uncharacteristically full for a Saturday as local activists gathered for a day sessions of the Battle Born Progress Progressive Summit.

U.S. Rep. Dina Titus spoke during the session to raise awareness about how the GOP’s attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act. She says it will harm Nevadans, increase health care costs, kill jobs, and eliminate programs that benefit working families.

"This shouldn't be about party,” Titus said. “This should be about doing what's good for the country, good for the people of Nevada.

“We don't want to go back to when we had so many people uninsured and our rates were high."

While Republicans aren't united on how to replace Obamacare, Senate Republicans are currently pulling ahead with plans of repealing – at least – large portions of the law.

"We want to make sure that as we give relief to people through Obamacare we do it in a transition that doesn't pull the rug out from anybody,” said Speaker of the House Paul Ryan earlier this week.

On Friday, President Barack Obama called the repeal-first, replace-later approach "irresponsible" and "reckless." Titus agrees.

"I worry that if they try to unravel this people will not have insurance, Nevada will go back to being one of the states with the highest number of uninsured in the country,” she said. “We were third, and now we've improved."
