Titus Continues the Call for a New Policy Agenda

August 1, 2013

Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District today spoke on the House floor to call for a new legislative agenda. Below are her remarks:
“I rise today to speak out against the misguided priorities that are driving the GOP's obstruct, repeal, and repeat agenda and to call instead for a new policy agenda that addresses the serious challenges that face our nation.
“When we adjourn tomorrow, Republican leadership will leave behind a staggering record of unfinished business and partisan messaging bills that put politics ahead of the American people’s priorities.
“Since January, Republicans have not allowed even a vote on a real jobs bill, finished a budget, passed comprehensive immigration reform, restored funding to nutrition programs, or fixed the sequester.
“Republican leadership’s aversion to meaningful action is undermining the important economic progress we’ve made; keeping 11 million undocumented immigrants in the shadows; and disproportionately harming low-income women and families.
“Hopefully they will see the light during the August recess and put aside the obstruct, repeal, and repeat agenda and set a new agenda for the fall that answerers the public outcry for action.”
