Titus Urges Action on Unemployment Insurance

February 27, 2014

Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District today spoke on the House Floor to urge House Republicans to take action to extend Unemployment Insurance for millions of Americans still looking for work. Below are her remarks:
“I rise today on behalf of the 1.9 million unemployed Americans, including nearly 21 thousand in Nevada, who are struggling to put food on the table, a roof over their heads, and gas in their car.
“Despite the daily struggle these people have to make ends meet and while looking for a new, good paying job, House Republicans have refused to bring a bill to the floor that would extend their critical lifeline.
“In fact, since the beginning of the 113th Congress, House Republicans have failed to bring a single jobs bill to the Floor.
“The American people have made it clear that they want this Congress to work to find solutions that represent a balanced approach, not partisan ideology that is out of touch with their needs and priorities.
“I urge House Republicans to set aside their ‘do-nothing’ agenda; address the serious challenges facing our country; and take meaningful action to achieve real results for the people we’ve been sent here to serve!”
