Titus Applauds House Passage of Brand USA Reauthorization

July 22, 2014

Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District issued the following statement on House passage of H.R. 4450 to Reauthorize Brand USA. Titus is an original cosponsor of H.R. 4450 and was an original cosponsor of the Travel Promotion Act introduced in the 111th Congress to establish the successful Brand USA program.

"Brand USA has already yielded significant benefits to our national and local economy through increased investment and job creation,” said Titus. “By reauthorizing this successful program, we can continue this strong trajectory and expand our role as one of the most popular international destinations. And with its world-class amenities for work and pleasure, Las Vegas will benefit greatly from this effort to increase tourism from around the globe.”

Established by the Travel Promotion Act in 2010, Brand USA is the first nationally-coordinated marketing effort to bring more international travelers to the United States based on voluntary contributions by the industry, not tax dollars. In 2013, Brand USA attracted 1.1 million international tourists who spent nearly $3.4 billion dollars in American hotels, businesses, restaurants, casinos, theatres, museums, and parks. This spending resulted in $7.4 billion in total sales and supported over 53,000 new jobs across the country. For every dollar spent, Brand USA generated $47 for U.S. companies. A new Congressional Budget Office analysis revealed that H.R. 4450 will reduce the federal deficit by $231 million over 10 years.
