Las Vegas, NV – Today Representative Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District – a senior member of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure – released the following statement in support of President Biden’s American Jobs Plan: “The American Jobs Plan will make long overdue investments to expand and improve our infrastructure, address the climate crisis, and create millions of good-paying jobs,” said Congresswoman Titus (NV-1). “President Biden’s plan will also ensure that every American has clean water and access to affordable broadband. In the 21st century, we cannot settle for anything less. The entire proposal is completely paid for by reversing corporate tax cuts handed out by the previous administration, penalizing companies for offshoring jobs, and eliminating subsidies for giant oil companies. Under the American Jobs Plan, the United States will create new pathways to the middle class, protect workers’ collective bargaining rights, and demonstrate what it means to build back better. “As a senior member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I will work around the clock to ensure that our community gets the resources we need. Based on my conversations with Transportation Secretary Buttigieg and Chairman DeFazio, I believe the American Jobs Plan will help fund construction on I-11 to connect Las Vegas to Phoenix, reduce traffic on I-15, support the Brightline West project to bring high-speed rail between Southern Nevada and Southern California, and more. Updates to Southern Nevada’s airport, roads, and public transit will boost our local economy and allow Las Vegas to remain a top international travel destination for decades to come.” Earlier today, the White House released a fact sheet on the Americans Jobs Plan. |
