Washington, D.C. – Today Representative Dina Titus of Nevada’s First District, a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, released the following statement:

“The recent violence between Israelis and Palestinians is heartbreaking and I strongly support Secretary Blinken’s calls for de-escalation,” said Congresswoman Titus (NV-1). “Civilians – especially young children – deserve to live in safety.

“In the face of terrorist attacks against its citizens, Israel has a right to defend itself and we must continue to strengthen the Iron Dome system. By housing military operations among civilians, Hamas is demonstrating its disregard for the safety of people living in Gaza.

“I urge all sides to show restraint in the interest of peace. Every hour this bloodshed continues only makes it more difficult to achieve a two-state solution.”
