REP. DINA TITUS HIGHLIGHTS CHILD TAX CREDIT EXPANSION, ENCOURAGES LAS VEGAS FAMILIES TO BE ON LOOKOUT FOR MONTHLY PAYMENTS BEGINNING JULY 15

44,100 households, covering 96% of all children in District 1, could receive up to $300 per child every month from July to December as part of American Rescue Plan Titus helped pass

“The Child Tax Credit is going to be life-changing for Southern Nevadans. In my district, this will benefit over 44,000 households, putting more money in the pockets of hardworking parents to afford quality child care, put gas in the car to get to work, or meet the cost of groceries so they can keep food on the table,” said Congresswoman Titus.

LAS VEGAS - Congresswoman Dina Titus is highlighting the expanded Child Tax Credit as part of the American Rescue Plan and encouraging Las Vegas families to be on the lookout for advance monthly payments of the Child Tax Credit of up to $300 per month per child beginning July 15th through December.

In Nevada’s 1st District, 44,100 hardworking households, covering 96% of all children, could get up to $300 per month per child from July to December. Nearly all families should get their monthly payments automatically beginning July 15 with no further action required. Families who did not file a tax return for 2019 or 2020 and who did not use the IRS Non-filers tool last year to sign up for the Economic Impact Payments, should go online and use the IRS Child Tax Credit Non-filer Sign-up Tool to sign up today. Families will be able to determine their eligibility, check the status of their payments and find other resources at IRS.gov/childtaxcredit2021

“I will continue to work in Congress and with the Biden administration to expand on these investments for working families. To build back better, we need to continue to improve on the affordability of child care, raise wages for workers, and invest in infrastructure that will create good-paying jobs.”

How Much Is the Child Tax Credit Expansion from the American Rescue Plan?

The American Rescue Plan expanded the Child Tax Credit to up to $3,600 per child for children ages 0 to 5 and $3,000 per child for children ages 6 to 17.

·        $300 a month per child for children ages 0 to 5.

·        $250 a month per child for children ages 6 to 17.

Families will qualify for a full credit if their income is below $75,000 for single filers, $112,000 for people filing as head of household, or $150,000 for people who are married and filing jointly.
