Washington, D.C. - Today Representative Dina Titus of Nevada’s First Congressional District issued the following statement on the declaration of a water shortage from the Bureau of Reclamation. “Today’s announcement is further evidence of the urgent need for climate action. Nevada has been preparing for years for such a scenario, working with neighboring states to bank water resources and invest in conservation programs and policies to ensure an uninterrupted supply of safe, clean water for Southern Nevada’s residents and visitors,” said Congresswoman Titus (NV-1). “We each have a role to play when it comes to reducing our water use. Simple acts can have a huge impact. As Congress continues to debate investments in infrastructure, it is critical that those funds support water conservation projects in the West, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and support the transition to a 100% clean energy economy.” |
